Neeza’s name withdrawn; Naseer nominated for Governor position

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has withdrawn Neeza Imad’s name nominated to People’s Majlis for the position of Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority, and replaced it with Ahmed Naseer.

The change was announced by Spokesperson at President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali, in a tweet this Sunday.

The President’s Office has provided no explanation for the change in decision.

Naseer has served as CEO of Capital Market Development Authority and has a Bachelor’s of Commerce in Economics and Marketing and a Masters in Policy Economics.

He also served in the senior management of MMA and as Minister of State at Ministry of Finance.

He currently works as Managing Director of K. Atoll Investment Private Limited.

MMA has confirmed Neeza has resigned from her post as Assistant Governor at MMA.
