Neeza nominated as Governor of MMA

Neeza Imad from M. Luxlin in Male’ City has been nominated as the new Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Spokesperson at President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali has confirmed Neeza’s nomination has been submitted to the People’s Majlis for approval.

The position of Governor of MMA was left vacant after Dr. Azeema Adam announced her resignation.

Azeema, who had been serving as Governor of MMA since 2014, announced her resignation this Wednesday, and said she was moving to the US with her husband who was recently appointed the Permanent Representative of Maldives at the United Nations.

It is unclear when the People’s Majlis will vote to approve Neeza as the new Governor as Majlis sessions have been suspended due to a fire incident inside the complex.
