Opposition parliamentarians have filed petitions over the murder of Mohamed Anas with three People’s Majlis committees.
Anas, 25, from Fenfiyaazuge in R. Meedhoo was stabbed to death inside Litus Motorcycle Service Center on July 31.
Parliamentarians from Maldivian Democratic Party and Jumhoory Party filed petitions over the murder to Government Oversight Committee, National Security Committee and Security Services Committee.
The petition to National Security Committee was submitted by North Machangolhi MP Mariya Ahmed Didi, Central Hithadhoo MP Ibrahim Mohamed Didi and Keyodhoo MP Moosa Nizar.
The petition to Security Services Committee was submitted by North Machangolhi MP Mariya Ahmed Didi, North Galolhi MP Eva Abdulla and Gan MP Fayyaz Ismail.
The petition to Government Oversight Committee was submitted by Addu Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam, West Maafannu MP Mohamed Falah and Thoddoo MP Ibrahim Hassan.
The MPs petitioned under Article 123 of People’s Majlis Regulation for the committees to meet relevant authorities regarding Anas’ murder as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Maldives Police Service announced they have captured those actively involved in Anas’ murder in a special operation on August 6. The authority did not disclose the identities of the assailants, or the number of assailants.
