Khaleel: No intentions to change Supreme Court bench

Secretary General of PPM and MP for Nilandhoo constituency, Abdulla Khaleel has said that there are no plans to make changes to the bench of judges of the Supreme Court and the oppositions are trying to create division in the country.

The opposition has been saying that the government going to make changes to the Supreme Court bench and appoint the Legal Affairs Minister at the President's Office, Aishath Azima Shukoor as the new Chief Judge of State.

Khaleel said that the opposition is spreading lies about the Supreme Court bench to influence the cases at the court. He said that the opposition is create division because they have run out of options.

The opposition claims of making changes to the Supreme Court by the government comes at a time after a number of MPs joined the opposition causing them to potentially lose their seat at the parliament.

Those cases are currently pending at the Supreme Court.
