Special Eye Camp in Maldives with Chinese aid

A special Eye Camp has been set to be held in the Maldives with aid from China.

Organized by the Maldivian Health Ministry and the Chinese National Health and Family Planning Commission, the camp is set to be held in September.

The Health Ministry said that a special team of ophthalmologists will be arriving on 31 July 2017 to prepare for the camp.

While the team of doctors are set to begin consulting at the Hulhumalé hospital on 1 August, doctors from the team will be consulting in Laamu Gan Regional Hospital on 2 and 3 August.

Patients who wish to consult the doctors at Hulhumalé hospital can register by calling 1417 and patients to consult at Laamu Gan can register by calling 6800026.

Among the patients that are consult, patients who need cataract surgery will be given the treatment during the camp in September.

A similar camp was held in 2015 with Chinese aid where over 200 patients were consulted and 107 patients received the cataract surgery they needed.
