Civil Court has decided to hold the hearings in the lawsuit filed by the father of the murdered social media activist, Yamin Rasheed against the Maldives Police Service accusing negligence, in open court.
The attorney representing Yamin's family, Husnu Suood said that the state requested closed hearings in the case but the family protested and the court decided to hold the hearings in open court.
Yamin's family has accused the police of being negligent in providing protection despite the numerous threats against him being brought to the attention of the authority.
Yamin Rasheed was left wounded with multiple stab wounds in the stairwell of his home on April 23. He died moments after he was taken to the hospital.
