Deputy Leader of the PPM Parliamentary Group, the MP for the Inguraidhoo constituency, Ibrahim Falaah has said that he was offered MVR 32 million to sign the no confidence against the Speaker of the Parliament, Abdulla Maseeh.
Speaking at a government coalition press conference at Dharubaaruge today, MP Falaah said that most of the MPs that have signed the motion against the Speaker have done so for their own benefit and not all due to an problems with the Speaker.
He said that the people are not ignorant to how the opposition offered him a bribe and how they acquired 45 signatures.
MP Falaah said that he has reported the bribe he was offered to the authorities and refused to give any details as to who it was that made the offer.
Speaking further, he said that the opposition is currently working to overthrow a legally election government but the government coalition of PPM and MDA is going to make sure the opposition attempts in the Parliament are going to fail.
Falaah spoke in favor of the jurisdictional case filed by the Attorney General at the Supreme Court requesting that the seats of parliamentarians won as candidates of a particular party be taken away if the parliamentarians switch parties. He said that the people elect MPs not to be sold to the highest bidder and the actions of some MPs are raising some accusations upon all MPs.
