Abusive husband fined with MVR 6,000

A man who physically abused his wife has been fined with MVR 6,000 by the Criminal Court.

The verdict passed on Sunday said that the man was found guilty of the abuse charge after he confessed to the crime.

The man confessed to grabbing his wife by the hair, tearing her dress and kicking her in the stomach on 21 March 2015.

He was fined under Article 1005 of the penal code in reference to articles 59-A, 120-A and 1006-B.

The Judge ordered that the fine be paid in full within a period of one month.
