Suit filed to take away seat if MPs switch parties

Attorney General Mohamed Anil has filed a jurisdictional case with Supreme Court requesting that seats of parliamentarians won as candidates of a particular party be taken away if the parliamentarians switch parties.

The case is being overseen as an emergency case by Chief Justice Abdulla Saeedh, Judge

Adam Mohamed Abdulla and Judge Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi.

Supreme Court decided in a recent such jurisdictional case filed by Attorney General’s Office that a final decision after a no-confidence motion is passed against the President, Vice

President, judges or members of independent State organizations will be made by Supreme Court.
