MP Shinan leaves PPM

South Machangolhi MP Abdulla Shinan has left the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

MP Shinan sent letters to both Secretary-General of PPM, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel and Elections Commission requesting that he be removed from PPM membership.

He gave no reason for his decision.

Shinan is the latest in a string of PPM parliamentarians to leave the party; including Dhangethi MP Ilhaam Ahmed, Dhidhdhoo MP Abdul Latheef Mohamed, and Hanimaadhoo MP Hussain Shahudhee.

They are among PPM parliamentarians who signed the petition for a no-confidence motion on

Speaker of People’s Majlis, Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed.
