Electricity restored to Alifushi after 4 days

Electricity has been restored to R. Alifushi after four days.

Electricity was restored to the island of 2,800 people at 6 am this Saturday using the 600-kilowatt generator brought to the island last Friday and the 400-kilowatt generator previously used at the island.

Alifushi was cut off from electricity due to an issue with the radiator of the 600-kilowatt generator used at the island. Officials failed in their attempt to repair the generator and the panel board of the 200-kilowatt generator brought to the island as a temporary solution failed to synchronize.

People of Alifushi slept out in the open on the streets the past three nights.

The new generator, which brought an end to troubles was carried the 3,000 feet from the boatyard to the powerhouse on logs and pipes by about 500 Alifushi citizens. They started their work at 2 pm on Friday and completed the task at 7:30 pm.
