Velana International Airport receives ISAGO certification

Velana International Airport has received ISAGO certification – the Safety Audit for Ground Operations by International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) – which runs VIA – reports the airport achieved the standards for ISAGO in January.

MACL reports the audit includes Organization and Management, Load Control, Passenger and Baggage Handling, Aircraft Handling and Loading, Aircraft Ground Movement, and Cargo and Mail Handing.

The company reports manuals for ground operations have been created for the airport, and that regular audits were conducted at the airport.

It said that services of the airport Ground Holding has been fitted to the audit standards, which has improved the quality, as well as safety of services.
