2nd round of voting in Madifushi, Komandoo begins

Second round of voting for council elections in Th. Madifushi and Sh. Komandoo began in the two islands at 8 am this Saturday.

Member of Elections Commission (EC), Ahmed Akram reports that voting was going smoothly with no issues.

Akram said that about 125 people from Madifushi have cast their vote so far.

A second round of voting is to being held in Komandoo after two candidates – both from Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) – tied for the third seat with equal number of votes.

A second round of voting is being held in Madifushi in light of investigation into a complaint filed with the Compliance Bureau of EC.

One of the voters from Madufushi during the Local Council Election on May 6 was given a ballot paper from another council. And the candidates who won seats at Madifushi Council did so by difference of only one vote.

Akram said voting will be closed at 4 pm this Saturday if there are no voters in queue.
