The missing landing craft “Mariya-3” has been found and all six people onboard are safe and sound, reports Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
“Mariya-3” was travelling from K. Thulusdhoo to L. Gan when it went missing.
MNDF reports the landing craft was found on Saturday by an Indian military aircraft assisting in the search, 130 nautical miles outside L. Isdhoomuli.
MNDF reports that one of its boats is operating near the landing craft and that the weather in the area is poor.
According to MNDF, the landing craft went missing due to damage to the boat which made travelling in the desired direction impossible.
Last contact with the landing craft was made at 9:30 pm, Tuesday, May 16.
MNDF searched 10,800 nautical miles in three days since the landing craft was reported missing. MNDF was assisted by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) and the Indian security forces.
