Control prices for staple products announced

Ministry of Economic Development has announced the control price or maximum retail price that can be charged on staple products imported into the country by State Trading Organization (STO) following the cut in prices.

Control prices on staple products for different zones announced by Ministry of Economic Development this Wednesday are as follows:

Zone I (H. A. Atoll, H. Dh. Atoll, Sh. Atoll):

- Control price of ordinary rice per kilo: MVR 7.78

- Control price of ordinary sugar per kilo: MVR 7.82

- Control price of ordinary flour per kilo: MVR 6.28

Zone II (N. Atoll, R. Atoll, B. Atoll, Lh. Atoll, K. Atoll, A. A. Atoll, A. Dh. Atoll, V. Atoll, M. Atoll, F. Atoll, Dh. Atoll. Th. Atoll):

- Control price of ordinary rice per kilo: MVR 7.58

- Control price of ordinary sugar per kilo: MVR 7.62

- Control price of ordinary flour per kilo: MVR 6.08

Zone III (L. Atoll, G. A. Atoll, G. Dh. Atoll, Gn. Atoll. S. Atoll):

- Control price of ordinary rice per kilo: MVR 7.97

- Control price of ordinary sugar per kilo: MVR 8.01

- Control price of ordinary flour per kilo: MVR 6.47

The price change is effective immediately. Charging customers above the control prices is illegal.
