Former Senior Policy Executive at Ministry of Education, Ibrahim Haneef - suspect in the attempted murder of High Court judge Shujau Usman – has been transferred to house arrest.
Haneef was transferred to house arrest for 15 days by Criminal Court during his fifth remand hearing last Tuesday.
Haneef was arrested by the police on April 4, before which his mobile phone was confiscated under court order.
Haneef is close to Vilingili MP Saud Hussain – who recently allied himself with former Maldivian President and ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)’s ousted leader, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
Both Haneef and Judge Shujau – who Haneef is accused of attempting to murder - are from G. A. Vilingili.
