Lawyer Ali Shah – detained for suspected obstruction of investigation into the murder of human rights activist and blogger Yamin Rasheed – has been transferred to house arrest.
Police media official reported Ali Shah was transferred to house arrest for five days by Criminal Court during his remand hearing last Monday.
Ali Shah – a defense lawyer who has worked on a number of homicide cases - was arrested under court order last Sunday, May 14.
Police have not disclosed the specifics of how he is suspected of obstructing the investigation into Yamin’s murder.
Yamin Rasheed, 29, was found with multiple stab wounds on the stairwell of his residence in the early hours of April 23.
He died minutes after he was taken to the hospital.
Police, in earlier statements, warned against doing anything to obstruct the investigation into the murder.
In their most recent statement released last Monday, announced that they have seven suspects in custody in connection with the murder – including the two individuals suspected of active involvement in the murder.
