Second round of voting for Sh. Komandoo Council and Th. Madifushi Council is scheduled to be held on May 20, reports Elections Commission.
EC member Ahmed Akram reported to “Sun” that the decision was taken this Tuesday.
A second round of voting is to be held for Komandoo after two candidates – both from Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) – tied for the third seat with equal number of votes.
Meanwhile, EC made the decision to hold a second round of voting to elect three council members for Madifushi in light of investigation into a complaint filed with the Compliance Bureau of EC.
One of the voters from Madufushi during the Local Council Election on May 6 was given a ballot paper from another council. And the candidates who won seats at Madifushi Council did so by difference of only one vote.
Voters from Komandoo and Madifushi have been provided the opportunity for re-registration.
