Bob wins Maldivian Idol

Mohamed Thasmeen (Bob) has been announced the winner of season II of Maldivian Idol.

Bob won the title after beating Ahmed Hamoodh (Alvin) – who came runner-up - and Shamveel Mohamed (Baro) – who came second runner-up.

Bob – who had been giving strong and consistent performances throughout the season – was presented his trophy during the grand finale held last Saturday night by Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim.

In addition to the title, the trophy and the prestige; Bob received MVR 250,000 cash prize from Public Service Media, and a spot at the TV Song Festival by Asian Broadcasting Union.

All three finalists were appointed as brand ambassadors by Dhiraagu and given a TV, an iPhone 7 and free Dhiraagu postpaid, Dhiraagu TV and Dhiraagu broadband connections for a year.

State Trading Organization (STO) gifted the three finalists with Hitachi air conditioners and free shopping at STO Supermart for a year.

Allied Insurance provided the three finalists with MVR 1.3 million health plans and Allied Gold Card.

PSM reports the prizes for the three finalists from the sponsors are worth MVR 5.8 million.

The grand finale of Maldivian Idol season II saw a tribute to Maldivian musical legend Ahmed Nashid.

The red carpet event prior to the show saw premier of an English language song by the first Maldivian Idol – Laisha Junaid, the premier of the song “Aadheys” by Maldivian Idol season I runner-up Shalabee Ibrahim, and the premier of the song “Leykokaa” by Maldivian Idol season I top ten finalist Mohamed Muazzin Naeem.
