Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has unveiled the new MVR 5 note, designed to depict communication and social connection.
The MVR 5 note of the Ran Dhiha Faheh series was unveiled by Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Shiham this Wednesday morning during the function held at Iskandhar School to mark Children’s Day.
The Ran Dhiha Faheh series includes MVR 10, MVR 20, MVR 50, MVR 100, MVR 500 and MVR 1,000 – and now MVR 5 notes.
MVR 5 is now the lowest domination of the Ran Dhiha Faheh series.
The notes are made of polymer and enjoys full security features.
All notes of the Ran Dhiha Faheh series were designed by Abdulla Nashath.
The design on the front of the MVR 5 note shows how society is strengthened through the national sport – football – and various traditional social interactions and sports
The back of the note shows the conch shell – used for communication in the past.
The pattern of lines on the note symbolizes how the entire country is linked – communication-wise.
MMA reports the new MVR 5 note will be released into circulation in July.
