President congratulates President-Elect of France

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a congratulatory message to the President-Elect of the French Republic, Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron.

In his message, President Yameen wished success in the “new challenging assignment” and noted that 20 May will mark the 46th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic and the long standing cordial relations between the Maldives and France.

“It is my hope that this relation would continue to flourish during your term in office, especially on the advancement of global interests common to our countries, such as climate change and counter-terrorism.” The President’s message said.

President Yameen also convey his best wishes for the president-elect’s good health and well-being and the assurances of the President’s highest consideration.
