Aasandha services restored to private health facilities

Government has made the decision to resume offering Aasandha health insurance services in private health facilities as before.

A senior official from President’s Office who spoke to “Sun” this Monday said President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has decided Aasandha services must be restored to private health facilities.

Aasandha Company Limited made the surprise announcement at 11:20 pm last Saturday, May 6, that the scheme will no longer cover services provided at private health facilities.

With the announcement, the company stopped Aasandha coverage to largest private hospital in Male’ City – ADK Hospital, and Senahiya.

The company announced at the time that it decided to stop Aasandha services to private health facilities because it felt the facilities now provide services at a reasonable price.

State health facilities provide services under the Aasandha health insurance scheme free of charge, but the scheme only covers part of the cost in private health facilities.
