Police: No dead infant, found rotten octopus

Maldives Police Service has said that the talk of a dead infant abandoned after birth is false and the bag found at the scene contained a rotten octopus.

Police Media Official said that they received reports of a foul smell from a a bag left on the eastern road of the National Stadium. And when the police forensic team looked into the “thing”, it was confirmed to be a rotten octopus.

Officers are active near Gate no. 5 of the stadium. However there has been no official word regarding the situation.

A woman who lives in the area said that it has been about three days since the foul smell started in the area. She said that the people sought out the source of the smell between two houses and the unidentified source was removed, put in a bag and kept on the road.

“It couldn’t be identified. It has a worse smell than something gone rotten.” The woman said.
