PPM: Full victory was achieved in the Council Election

PPM has said that a good full victory has been achieved from the ballot boxes counted so far from yesterday’s Local Council Election.

At a PPM press conference today, the Vice President of the party and the Minister of Tourism, Moosa Zameer said that the results announced so far show a number of seats to the PPM coalition and it is full victory to the government.

Zameer said that the total so far tally at 219 to the PPM coalition while the combined opposition has 206. He said that there are about 100 ballot boxes pending the count and they are at regions with massive support for PPM.

Noting the new low number of voters in the yesterday’s election, Zameer said that it is something all political parties need to look into and the PPM will work to increase the voter turnout in the future.

The MP for the Vilimalé constituency, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik said that it is largely believed that the low turnout in Malé City is linked to the inefficiency of the City Councils and the public is no longer interested.
