State has submitted two anonymous witnesses to court to prove the case against Male’ City councilman Zaidul Ameen.
Zaidul Ameen is accused of listening in on and recording a conversation by a judge, making a video for the recording and attempting to sell it.
State prosecution submitted two anonymous witnesses during the closed hearing in the case held at Criminal Court on Tuesday night.
Zaidul Ameen has pled “not guilty” to all three charges pressed against him; attempted irregular dissemination of information, acquirement of information through irregular means, and obstruction of due process.
He has been charged with attempted irregular dissemination of information in reference to Article 232 of Penal Code; acquirement of information through irregular means in reference to Article 233 of Penal Code; and obstruction of due process in reference to Article 533 of Penal Code.
He faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison if found guilty of all three charges.
Each charge carries a minimum four-month and 24-day prison sentence.
