Authorities arrest man carrying 578 grams of heroin from Dubai

Authorities have arrested a man travelling from Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Maldives with over 500 grams of heroin.

Maldives Customs reports the man was a 25-year-old Maldivian, and arrested from Velana International Airport upon arrival from Dubai on April 19.

Maldives Customs reports the heroin was discovered when authorities conducted additional questioning and searched him luggage after his actions sparked suspicion.

Two packets containing heroin was found hidden inside the luggage; weighing total 578 grams.

The man is now under police custody.
