Boat sinks, killing 2 foreigners

The boat “Princess” travelling from Male’ City to R. Aarah sank at dawn this Thursday, killing two foreigners onboard.

Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital’s media official reported to “Sun” this Thursday morning that eight people were brought in to the hospital due to the sinking, out of whom two foreigners did not survive.

IGMH said the remaining six victims brought in - four other foreigners and two Maldivians – were in stable condition.

Maldives National Defense Force reports “Princess” had been travelling from Male’ City to Aarah with 2,000 sacks of cement when it sank near K. Hinmiya at dawn.

There were 11 crew-members onboard “Princess” when it sank – nine foreigners and two Maldivians.

All crew-members have been transported to Male’ City on MNDF Coastguard’s fast interceptor craft “Hakura” and Coastguard’s harbor craft.
