Police made multiple arrests from a number of houses located near the cemetery in the Machangolhi district of Male’ City in a special operation last Monday night.
Police had court orders to raid the office of Attic International Private Limited located in Ma. Enboodhooge, as well as Ma. Kinara House and Ma. Namoonaage.
The court order for raid on Attic International allowed permission for to police collect evidence following “intel of planning being carried out inside the office for an act which could threaten national security.”
An eyewitness reported to “Sun” that Special Operations officers wearing masks arrested four people from the houses they raided and confiscated a number of items for evidence.
Police media official confirmed that a special operation took place in Male’ City on Monday night which led to a number of raids and arrests. But he gave no detail.
Extra police officers have been dispatched to patrol the streets of Male’ City following the brutal murder of human rights activist and blogger Yamin Rasheed in the pre-dawn hours of April 23.
Whether the arrests made on Monday night had any connection with Yamin’s murder hasn’t been confirmed.
