In an operation ran by the Maldives Police Service tonight, officers have broke down the door to an office near Mahchangolhi Cemetery and arrested a person inside.
A witness at the scene told Sun Media that officers in masks at the ground floor office at a building called Ebu and brought out a man in handcuffs and took him away.
The witness said that a two feet long cylindrical object was also taken away from the office, which brings in expatriates.
Masked officers and members of the forensic team are also active in the area.
Spokesperson of the Police, Ahmed Shifan said tonight that there is a major police operation ongoing where they are entering some buildings and making arrests. And since the operation is ongoing, no information regarding it can be released at this time.
He said that the information will be released sometime tomorrow.
The police spokesperson did not say which case that the operation is related to but it was part of an effort to secure peace in Malé City.
While a major police operation is underway in the capital tonight, the police are also bringing out more officers to the streets and conducting searches and interviews with the people on the road.
