President assured to do everything possible to restore peace: Imran

Civil Society Coalition has said that President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has assured to do everything possible to restore peace and order in the country.

President of Adhaalath Party Imran Abdullah made this statement while providing information to reporters on Civil Society Coalition’s series of meetings with government institutions, in relation to the unrest in Maldives arising from Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP) Direct Action protests.

“The President assured that unrest and violence on the streets of Male’ and other islands will not be tolerated,” Imran said, after his meeting with the President.

Imran also assured that the Civil Society Coalition will not hesitate in its efforts to fight against MDP’s current activities.

“The government institutions are committed in their efforts. The Police institution is well-prepared. The only thing is that they have to exercise tolerance and patience, for the interest of the public. They are by no means afraid of MDP,” Imran said.

He said that the Civil Society Coalition will announce its plan of action on how to combat MDP’s activities, during the pre-Ramadan feast on Wednesday night.
