High Court orders to halt Border Control System project

High Court has again issued a temporary order to halt the Border Control System project carried out by Immigration Department through Malaysia’s Nexbiz.

High Court stated in its order to Immigration Department to halt the project until the Court makes a decision on the case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), as continuation of the project might result in the Maldivian State incurring irrecoverable losses.

The earlier order issued by High Court to halt the project was annulled by Supreme Court based on the reconstitution of the High Court bench which presided over the case.

Immigration Department has indicated that 25 percent of the project has been completed.
