The donation was accepted on behalf of the Maldivian government by Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim.

Speaking during the function, Minister Nazim said some of the equipment donated has already been transported to Maldives.

Nazim said the equipment will be sent to State hospitals and health centers in the atolls.

“It’s in President Yameen’s health manifesto to establish a modern health network in the atolls. So this equipment will be used to better increase efficiency of areas in the atoll health network which need it the most,” said Nazim.

The equipment donated include mobile x-ray machines, dental units and mobile ventilators.

Nazim expressed gratitude on behalf of the Maldivian government for the aid.

Japanese ambassador Endo said the Japanese government had always had close bilateral relations with the Maldivian government.

He said Japanese government was committed to assisting in future projects for the benefit of the people of the Maldives.
