Police summoned Jumhoory Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim to police headquarters this Wednesday to take his statement over suspected conspiracy to overthrow the government.
Qasim presented himself at the police headquarters at 4 pm, and was questioned for over two hours.
Speaking to press after questioning, Qasim’s lawyer Hisaan Hussain said Qasim was summoned by the police for questioning regarding two main allegations. And that he gave his full cooperation during the questioning.
“The allegations today were influencing police, military and judges, and trying to overthrow the current legal government,” said Hisaan.
Police recently searched Qasim’s private residence and Villa headquarters for evidence.
Hisaan said the search operation by police was part of the investigation into the corruption allegation against him. And that Qasim wasn’t asked anything about the corruption allegation during questioning this Wednesday.
Police are investigating multiple allegations against him.
He is also currently in the middle trial on the bribery case against him – for which he faces three charges.
