Riyaz pleads “not guilty” to obstruction charge

Deputy Leader of Jumhoory Party (JP), Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz has plead “not guilty” to the obstruction charge raised against him by the State.

State argues Riyaz obstructed a law enforcement officer when he refused to unlock his phone which was seized by police at approximately 9 pm on March 27 for a criminal investigation.

Riyaz plead “not guilty” to the charge during the hearing held at Criminal Court at 10 am, this Thursday.

The State requested that Riyaz be kept under police custody until the end of the trial, but it was denied by the judge.
