Police seize drugs and 32 SIM cards being smuggled into Maafushi Prison

Maldives Police Service has seized 32 SIM cards and drugs being smuggled into Maafushi Prison being run under the Maldives Correctional Service.

Police said that in an operation conducted based on information received by Police Intelligence, a 29-year-old man was arrested with the items which were seized.

When the man was searched after his arrest, 32 SIM cards and five packets of suspected drugs were found in a cigarette box inside the man’s jeans pocket according to the Police.

The Police said that the man has now been remanded by 15 days by the Kaafu Maafushi Magistrate Court.
