Ibrahim Haneef has been fired from his position as Senior Policy Executive of Ministry of Education following his arrest as a suspect in attempted murder of High Court judge, Shujau Usman.
President’s Officer reports Haneef was terminated from his position by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom this Tuesday.
Haneef was arrested on April 4, and remanded to police custody by Criminal Court for 10 days.
Haneef is close to Vilingili MP Saud Hussain – who recently allied himself with former Maldivian

Both Haneef and Judge Shujau are natives of G. A. Vilingili.
Judge Shujau works at southern branch of High Court, based in Meedhoo, Addu City.
An audio clip has been circulating in social media in which two people speaking in Addu dialect are heard talking about causing bodily harm to Shujau.
