Landing craft crashes into container barge at commercial harbor

An accident took place at Male’ Commercial Harbor this Saturday when a landing craft crashed into a container barge.

An official from Maldives Ports Limited reported the barge had been carrying two stacks of cargo containers when the landing craft crashed into it.

He said the crash resulted in extensive damage to the cargo containers, but no bodily harm to anyone.

The official said police have suspended the licenses of both the men operating the two vessels as the case is investigated.

Police said the accident was reported to the authority at 12:20, this Saturday afternoon.

Police said the accident was under investigation and released no details.
