WAMCO southern office opens in Hithadhoo

Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has opened their southern regional office has been opened in Hithadhoo, Addu City. At a special ceremony held today, the regional office was opened by the MP for Feydhoo constituency, Ibrahim Didi.

On March 26 2017, WAMCO was contracted to handle waste management system of the entire Addu City. And the company has transported compactors and other vehicles to Addu City and started collecting waste from the residential homes last Tuesday.

WAMCO said that they would be collecting waste from the houses in Addu City three time a week for a rate of MVR 100 per month which has received massive support from the public when the registrations opened.

WAMCO’s collection service signed on to manage waste in the capital, Malé City last year and the service began in December 2016. Creating 13 zones in the capital, WAMCO has started their waste collection from residential homes in six zones.

The Corporation aims to starting collecting from all 13 zones by the end of June 2017.

Aside from Malé and Addu City, WAMCO has also been contracted to manage waste in Noonu, Raa, Baa and Lhaviyani atoll through their regional waste management facility in Raa atoll Vandhoo.
