With Qasim summoned to the Police, opposition supporters gathered near MMA

After the Leader of the Jumhooree Party (JP), Qasim Ibrahim was summoned to the Police HQ, opposition supporters have gathered at the Republic Square near the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).

When the JP Leader arrived at the Police HQ at Shaheed Hussain Adam Building tonight, opposition supporters also gathered at the area. When others tried to get in after the JP Leader, Police have stopped them allowing Qaim alone.

At the number, some were almost inside the Republic Square. Police then pushed back the rallying people further than the MMA.

The people gathered near the MMA are raising their voice against the government. Police are slowly pushing them further back.

People gathered at the area include the Leader of the MDP Parliamentary Group, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu), MP for Dhiggaru constituency, Ahmed Faaris Maumoon and the MP for North Mahchangolhi constituency, Maariya Ahmed Didi along with MPs of Jumhooree Party.
