Maldives Police Service has executed a court order at the MDP Hall in Henveiru conducting a search and seizing some items.
The Police closed down the area with Police tape around 5:30 p.m. today and executed the court order searching the MDP Hall at the Veyovilla 2 property.
The court order said that the search is being conducted in suspicion of planning to disrespect the honor of foreign dignitaries set to visit the country. And the order said that a banner and all related items need to be confiscated in relation to the case.
After the search, Police took four paper bags containing numerous items along with 19 rolls of yellow fabric and a number of banners prepared at the MDP Hall.
Police conducted their search at the presence of the Secretary General of MD, Anas Abdul-Sattar and the MP for the Vaikaradhoo constituency, Mohamed Nazim.
The Police Media Official told Sun Media that Police have conducted a search at an MDP Hall with a court order and did not give any further details.
While the Saudi King, Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud is set to visit the Maldives this March, the Saudi government has expressed an interest to run a major project in Faafu atoll. President Yameen said that the details of the project will be announced later.
But MDP and other opposition factions have been raising their concerns against the project.
