MDFM holds a media camp for school students

Media Development Foundation – Maldives (MDFM) has held a media camp for secondary school students.

The media camp was held at Hiriya School in Male’ City last Saturday with 25 students from Hiriya School, Thaajuddin School and Iskandhar School.

MDFM reports the students were educated on what journalism is, the types of mediums, news and current affairs, the importance of a lead when writing articles, the five W’s, law on journalism and ethics.

The camp included a theory component and practical component where the participants were taken to Public Service Media headquarters to provide firsthand knowledge on how journalists find news stories, news presentation and news editing.

MDFM reports the camp was run with the help of Bank of Maldives.

The foundation said it will ask for further assistance from BML to run more media camps targeting secondary school students.

MDFM also ran a workshop targeting journalists working in the Maldivian media field in association with International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) in 2016.
