State Electric Company (Stelco) has issued a public apology for the sudden power outage in Male’ City on Sunday.
Stelco said in a statement issued last Sunday that the power outage was due to a short circuit in the high voltage cable in the temporary transformer used to provide electricity to Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).
‘We deeply apologize to our customers for the inconvenience which resulted from the power outage,” read the statement.
Stelco said the issue was under investigation and that the findings would be shared with the public.
The power went out at approximately 1 pm and came back to the whole of Male’ City at approximately 4:25 pm.
