High Court has ordered that cardiologist Dr. Abdul Azeez Ahmed be assigned a position of higher ranking appropriate based on his education and experience.
The verdict follows Dr. Abdul Azeez Ahmed’s lawsuit against Civil Service Commission after he complained he was transferred from Senior Medical Officer of Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) to Consultant in Cardiology – which he protested was a lower rank.
The complaint was originally filed with Employment Tribunal, but was later appealed with High Court after the tribunal ruled the rank assigned by Civil Service Commission was appropriate.
High Court ruled last Tuesday that Civil Service Commission had not submitted evidence to either Employment tribunal or High Court which contested the rank of his certificates – accredited by Maldives Accreditation Board.
The court ruled that based on evidence submitted by Dr. Abdul Azeez Ahmed, he was eligible for a position of higher ranking.
