Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim has departed to Geneva, Switzerland to attend the 34th session of United Nations Human Rights Council.
The 34th session of United Nations Human Rights Council is scheduled to start on Monday, February 27.
Minister Asim left for Geneva this Saturday morning along with Director of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shahiya Alimanik.
Dr. Asim is scheduled to speak at the session, and attend the high-level panel discussion on human rights mainstreaming.
Maldives has had a seat in UN Human Rights Council for two consecutive terms; 2011 to 2013 and 2014 to 2016. The country has applied to retain the seat for the upcoming term from 2018 to 2020.
