Officers fired after littering compound in protest against “order” to attend PPM gathering

Two police officers arrested after Iskandhar Koshi was littered with pamphlets warning other security services offices not to attend a gathering by the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives.

Police media official has confirmed the two officers have been fired from Maldives Police Service, but provided no other details.

The two corporal-level officers littered Iskandhar Koshi with the pamphlets after security services officers were allegedly ordered to attend PPM’s “Aslu Jalsaa” gathering held in November, 2016.

They were arrested shortly after the incident.

In the pamphlets, the officers warned against involving security services in matters that have

nothing to do with their duties.

They wrote that the MPS did not exist to serve the political agenda of the government.
