Civil Court has ordered Bank of Maldives (BML) to transfer the money mistakenly deposited to the account of Luminex Investment as payment from Ministry of Finance and Treasury.
The Finance Ministry mistakenly deposited MVR 524,077.25 to the BML account of Luminex Private Limited, a local investment registered to Abdul Sattar Ahmed Manik, Male’ City, which was supposed to be deposited at an account of Luminex Pvt. Ltd.
A verdict delivered by the Civil Court on Sunday ordered BML to transfer a total of MVR 481578.11 out of the account of Luminex Investment and into the account of Luminex Pvt. Ltd. at Mauritius Commercial Bank within ten days.
Luminex Investment had used MVR 42449.14 of the money deposited to their account. And so the verdict said that since the two companies have been unable to come to an agreement on returning the used money, the case can be filed at the Civil Court separately.
The money was intended for Luminex Pvt. Ltd. as payment for the supply and installation of a security camera system for the Department of Judicial Administration.
