Boat capsizes in Kaashidhoo Sea

A 35-foot boat travelling from Lh. Kurendhoo to Lh. Hinmafushi with two onboard capsized in the Kaashidhoo Sea this Tuesday morning.

Information officer for Maldives National Defense Force, Major Adnan Mohamed reported that the two people onboard the boat have been rescued, and that they escaped with no injuries in the incident.

Major Adnan said the incident was reported to MNDF Maritime Rescue Coordination Center at 9:20 am.

He said the Male’ Area Coastguard Squadron and MNDF Northern Area Coastguard Squadron were working on the case.

He said that Male’ Area Coastguard Squadron’s fast interceptor craft – Hakuraa Launch was travelling to the area from Male’ City, and Northern Area Coastguard Squadron’s harbor craft speedboat was travelling to the area from Lh. Maafilaafushi.
