157 people with disabilities provided employment

157 people with disabilities have been provided employment in 18 State-owned companies.

The 157 people were awarded the employment opportunities in a function held at Dharubaaruge this Monday morning.

The function was attended by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim, Cabinet ministers and heads of State-owned companies.

The people given employment struggle with disabilities including visual impairment, hearing impairment, and a number of mental disorders.

They were provided employment in aviation, operations, administration, public relations, logistics, business and craftsmanship in:

• Maldives Airports Company Limited

• Maldives Ports Limited

• Sports Corporation

• Waste Management Corporation Limited

• Fenaka Corporation

• State Trading Organization

State has been providing special employment opportunities to people with disabilities since 2014.
