The small Bihuroaz Kamanaa Mosque is one of the most historically significant mosques in Male’ City.
The mosque was built by Bihuroaz Faashana Kalo, and is the burial site of national heroes; Al-Sultan Ghaazee Mohamed Thakurufaanul Auzam (Utheemu Al-Ghaazee Mohamed Bodu Thakurufaanu) and his brother, Al-Ghaazee Hassan Rannabandeyri Kilegefaanu.
The oldest documents in existence which mentions the mosque – dating back to 1585 – shows the mosque had been in existence when Al-Sultan Ghaazee Mohamed Thakurufaanu Sirisavadhitha Mahaaradhun died and was buried.
The mosque had then been known as Bihuroaz Faashana Kalo Mosque.
