Council employees who went to throw away garbage find “ambergris”

Employees of Sh. Funadhoo Council who went to dispose of garbage to the beach have discovered what is believed to be 18 kilos of ambergris.

Funadhoo councilman, Ahmed Nazeer reported to “Sun” that the ambergris was found this Tuesday morning by two of the seven employees of the council who went to dispose of the garbage to the beach on the northern side of the island.

“It was found from the water to the north of the island while they were there to dispose of the garbage. Seven people were working on disposing the garbage and two of them took it out,” said Nazeer.

He said the “ambergris” was white in color.

Efforts are being carried out to verify whether it is indeed an ambergris.
